Eve: Genesis chapters 2 & 3 Genesis 3:20, Genesis 4:1,
My name is Eve. It means ‘Life’. I was created by God to be the mother of all humankind. All nations, tribes and tongues come from me. I was given dominion over the earth along with my mate Adam. (Genesis 1:26-29). The first recorded words that God ever spoke to humankind are promises were given to me and to Adam.

Although man and woman have different roles, as far as our standing with God is concerned we are equal. We are both created in the image of God.
Many have said that woman is less than man because I came from man. But I came from man’s ribs (Genesis 2:21-25) not his feet, for I was not to be walked over, nor his head, because I was not to boss him about. I came from the bones closest to his heart. Equal. Doesn’t that say much of the relationship that exists between a man and a woman in marriage?
We were both called to subdue the earth. How have the mighty fallen…….

Yes, Genesis 3 tells us how I was tricked by the serpent. People throughout the ages have asked “Was she gullible or just ambitious?” Being in an environment where innocence and goodness were the order of the day, it’s not hard to see why either of us might have been led astray……but was the attraction for both of us, the idea of being like God himself??? To be honest, I still don’t know. Whatever the reason, when God confronted Adam, he blamed me and I blamed the serpent and the truth is, the serpent didn’t have a leg to stand on!
I am the first of my kind and the mother of all humankind.
