Daily Reflections

Good morning and welcome to Wednesday’s Daily Reflections session where we join Barry live from the Manse.

Our Daily Reflection sessions are live on Facebook each weekday at 11am but for those who don’t have Facebook we now have the full recording avaliable over on the St. Mark’s YouTube channel please if you haven’t already subscribe to the channel.

We joined fellow Christians around the world this morning to say the Lords Prayer.

Father God although were are sitting in our own homes we may feel isolated,

But we are all part of your family, your family here in Stirling, your family across Scotland, across the UK, Europe and indeed around the world.

And Lord how wonderful to be able to take strength from this fellowship which we are all part of in the name of your son Jesus Christ.

And Lord all though we may be apart physically we are always together, we thank you that you have given us gifts such as social media for a time like this so we all can keep in touch with each other and Lord we are never stronger when we join together in prayer, praise and in fellowship and so now we join together with our brothers and sisters around the world saying the words your son Jesus Christ taught us.

Our Father who is in heaven,

Hallowed be Your Name

Your Kingdom come

Your Will be done

On earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily Bread

And forgive us our debts

as we forgive our debtors

Lead us not into temptation

But deliver us from evil

For Yours is the Kingdom, the Power

And the glory forever.

We shared a reading from the book of Psalms reading from Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.

Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy place where the Most High dwells.

God is within her, she will not fall; God will help her at break of day.

Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall; he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done, the desolations he has brought on the earth.

He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth. He breaks the bow and shatters the spear; he burns the shields with fire.

He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”

The Lord Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our

Psalm 46

We spoke about how Psalm 46 shows how God isn’t just our last refuge in challenging times but is our first refuge in good times too, we shouldn’t be afraid to turn to God to lead us and take us by both hands during these times.

Prayers for others

We joined in prayer to pray for others during this time.

Barry then closed with the blessing.
