Ark Roadshow Harvest Festival

October 7, 2019 by stmarks
Our friends from St. Margaret’s and Salvation Army joined us for our joint Harvest Festival

We had another successful Ark Roadshow on Sunday; this month We hosted one of our favourite services, the Harvest Festival where we welcomed our friends from St. Margaret’s and the Salvation Army.

We continued our Ark Road show journey as we explored more about the world God made with our readings from God’s Great Big Book, reading from Psalm 8 and Hebrews 1:1-14. Thank you to Irene from St. Margaret’s and Lynne from St. Mark’s.

We also heard from Cyril and Bert with their Harvest Drama which we caught on camera for you to watch.

Thank You to Barry and John for bringing us Cyril and Bert.

We sang our traditional harvest hymns and songs with everyone’s favourite “You’ve got to dig a little deeper in God’s love.” This is always met with great enthusiasm and joy, especially from our Deacon Jean.

We also had a little game led by Barry, where we had four teams each who were asigned a colour from the rainbow and their aim was to find things in our halls that matched their team colour.

Barry, Explaining the rules of his game.

One team writing their list of items they have found

The hunt for items matching the team colours

Then in our “Thinky Bit” we explored more about God’s creation with thanks to Jennifer and Jean of St. Mark’s and Barbara and Bill from St Margaret’s playing a part in this mini discussion.

Not forgetting our prayers for creation, thank you Sandy from the Salvation Army.

Jean & Malky, leading us with our songs.

Sandy leading one of our Prayers

Not forgetting our prayers for creation, thank you Sandy from Salvation Army.

Creator God, we thank you for all that we have
For our daily bread
And for all those who work
to bring your harvest home for our benefit

Creator God, we ask that you forgive our ingratitude
we who have so much
yet waste what you have given us
and we pray for those whose harvest is poor,
whose crops have withered,
for those with no access to fresh water or supplies
and who can do nothing but stand by and watch their children starve,

Creator God we ask that you help those of us that do have enough
to find better ways to share what we have
with those that need it most
help us to never be complacent
whilst there is still hunger and inequality in this world
and fill us with your Holy Spirit
to give us a renewed commitment
to fight for a fairer and more just world.
where all who are in need can find relief.

Make us faithful stewards of your great gifts
sharing all in love with others
and we ask that your name be glorified
through the beauty of this world
and the whole earth give praise to you
through Jesus Christ our Lord – AMEN

As you can probably tell it was an action packed afternoon with laughter and food with our friends from St. Margaret’s and Salvation Army.

We would like to thank everyone who came along and joined us as well as all the people who brought food donations for the service and donations for our collection for Start Up Stirling where all the tined and packet donations are going and Salvation Army will get the fresh produce. Finally thank you to all those behind the scenes who helped organise and prepare for the service.

We meet again for the next installment of the Ark Roadshow on Sunday 3rd November at 12.30pm where will the Ark stop this time? Please join us to find out.

We then meet jointly with our friends from St. Margaret’s and Salvation Army for the Raploch Rememberance Service in the Village Square on Monday 11th at 10.45am.

May the sun shine, all day long,
everything go right, and nothing wrong.
May those you love bring love back to you,
and may God send many blessings to you!
AMEN
